‘Discovery Travel Living’ to get fresh look with TLC from September 1 in Asia-Pacific

August 3, 2010

On Sunday, Discovery announced that its life style channel ‘Discovery Travel Living’ will be getting a newer and fresher look with a new name ‘TLC—Travel & Living Channel’ in Asia-Pacific from September 1.

The marketing of Discovery’s ‘Travel and Living Channel’ will begin from mid-August.

Speaking on this change, Senior Vice-President and General Manager, India, Discovery Networks Asia-Pacific, Rahul Johri, said, “TLC marks the beginning of a refreshing journey. It will add a new dimension to lifestyle programming by introducing innovative formats, spunkier hosts and swankier locales; promising ultimate viewing experience.”

The change will come with at least 15 new shows, hosted by six new hosts and 11 new seasons of already existing shows and genres like adventure, makeovers and family.

Johri added, “We want to enhance the viewer’s experience. The aim of TLC is to take the lifestyle genre to the next level. Our aim is to make TLC the number one English entertainment channel in the country among the affluent audiences. The sooner we do this the better.”

“A key learning from operating Discovery Travel and Living for six years has been that if you offer quality content to a targeted audience it will work. We have always been on brand and have never compromised,” he said.

TLC is currently operational in US while in the Asia-Pacific region, Discovery already offers six networks such as ‘Discovery Channel’, ‘Discovery Science’, ‘Animal Planet’, ‘Discovery HD World’, ‘Discovery Turbo’ are working and now comes the ‘TLC’.
