D-Link releases pocket router

D-Link’s portable and lightweight multi-function pocket router family has received addition of a Wi-Fi N to it’s for wireless access on the fly. The D-Link Wireless N Pocket Router/Access Point (DAP-1350) can be used as a wireless router to create an 802.11n Wi-Fi network with multi-mode functionality or it can be used to add Wi-Fi to an existing wired network for connectivity while you are on the move The device can also be used to connect a desktop PC or Xbox 360, to a Wi-Fi network for convenience and flexibility.

The DAP-1350 has its own travel case and is compact device that you can easily carry while traveling. The router supports Power over USB to use a PC to power the device if a power outlet is not accessible when operating in wireless client mode. The device is equipped with multiple intelligent antennas to ensure better wireless signals of good speed. The internal antennas provide wireless signals off walls. Latest wireless security features to help prevent unauthorized access is another feature of the DAP-1350

the device is equipped to support WPA and WPA2 and has a WPS push button. This helps in adding of devices and secures the network. The feature also includes SharePortTM Technology for sharing of a USB printer. This also is a Wi-Fi N ready router implying that it is competent of transmitting data up to 5-times sooner than Wireless G at greater distances.

Price of D-Link DAP-1350 is set at Rs. 5,999 with a 1 year warranty. A compact travel pouch with CAT5 Ethernet Cable, USB Power Cable4 and Power Adapter also comes with the kit.

Nokia Ovi Life to cover more subscribers in semi-urban India

In order to offer Nokia Ovi Life Tools to a many more consumers in rural and semi-urban India, Nokia has declared a tie-up with Tata DoCoMo, the GSM brand of Tata Teleservices. The service is available in 18 states across India and it will be offered in eleven languages of the country.

The collaboration of Nokia and Tata DoCoMo work to offer Nokia Ovi Life Tools services to all of the Tata DoCoMo subscribers. The service offers news alerts for the purpose of works related to agriculture and education schemes. Other relevant information also will be directly given to thousands of users of the service. .

The service Nokia Life Tools Agriculture is being offered across 18 states and in 11 regional languages. The service comes in the options of 2 plans. The basic plan offers daily weather updates to the users and relevant agriculture-related news, advice and tips at Rs. 30 per month. A premium plan at Rs. 60 per month provides the market prices for three crops chosen by the subscriber. This plan also offers weather information, news, advice and tips. Preferred educational service for Rs. 30 per month are made available to learn English, general knowledge or exam tips. Nokia Life Tools is being offered in 11 Indian languages – Hindi, , Punjabi, Marathi, Bengali, Gujarati, Oriya and English Malayalam, Kannada, Tamil, Telugu.

Epson turns any wall into interactive wall with its latest projector- EB-450wi

Epson recently announced to launch the EB-450wi Ultra Short Throw Interactive projector in Indian market. This i-projector displays a 97″ screen from a distance of just 0.766m. It incorporates 3LCD technology, the EB-450wi has a native resolution of 1280×800 (WXGA), 2,500lumens brightness.

This latest invention from the company claims to offer actual interaction with the projector screen using a special pen. After 15-20 seconds of installation of the software on you notebook or PC, the screen automatically transforms into a touch screen.

Some other features supported by the projector are-a LAN jack for network monitoring and control, multiple connectivity options and an integrated 10W speaker. Epson’s 3LCD technology offers full-time colour projection with three separate LCD panels (Red, Green and Blue) thus ensuring projection of image without colour breakup (commonly known as rainbow effect), distorted image patterns and visual fatigue. Using Epson’s E-TORL lamp technology, the projector’s lamp life can last up to 3,500 hours in economy mode.

The EB-450wi aims to give new face to the education system. The interactive projector is available with the price tag of Rs. 1, 86,000.

Apple’s share and business up despite controversy

Apple Inc does not seem to be effected by the Antennagate controversy around its iPhone 4. it has said that the debate over its antenna design and dropped calls due to loss of signal is not going to make any adverse impact on sales of its smartphone.

The company’s revenue forecast has exceeded beyond expectation of Wall Street estimation. Apple’s share has climbed up 3 percent. The company’s Mac computer sales have gone surprisingly by 33 percent but mainly on the back of strong showing in Asia. Apple sold 3.47 million Macs in the first fiscal third quarter ended on June 26.

Apple recorded $18 billion in revenue in the first quarter of the current quarter and it is above than $17 billion predicted by Wall Street. Recently iPhone 4’s antenna problems have resulted in a controversy but Apple’s CEO Steve Jobs said that faulty reception of signals is a worldwide problem. Actually the complaints about iPhone 4 loosing the signal started soon after it was launched on June 24. Since then, apple’s share had fallen by 7 percent. Now the company is offering free cases to protect the pone from signal loss but the experts say that the matter has not put to the rest.

Abhay Deol-Sonam locked lips for Aisha

Abhay Deol and Sonam Kapoor will be seen in a kissing scene in their forthcoming film Aisha. The movie is based on Jane Austen’s Emma. The two stars have shared a hot kissing scene which they reportedly enjoyed. The film is set for release on theaters in August.

Abhay has said that Sonam is the best kisser he has come across. It was Sonam’s first kiss in a film but Abhay has gone through the experience before on quite a few times. He has locked the lips with Neha Dhupia in Ek Chalis Ki Last Local, with Mahie Gill in Dev D and Neetu Chandra in Oye Lucky Lucky Oye.

He said that he would rate Sonam as the best kisser co-star. He says that she is a great kisser out of all co-stars he has shared kissing scenes. Abhay says that the two of them were not at all uncomfortable in the kissing scene. This was because they share a great bond and they have a certain comfortable level. So, the lip locking scene was easier to perform. The film will be released in August.

Khatta Meetha expected to repeat success for Akshay-Priyadarshan

Director Priyadarshan and actor Akshay Kumar as a pair are back for the sixth time in film Khatta Meetha with its release on Friday. The pair has given major hits films like Hera Pheri, Garam Masala and Bhool Bhulaiyaa.

Khatta Meetha looks into the corruption prevailing in our society and takes a dig at it. Previous films from the pair were slapstick comedies.

Akshay while discussing the film said, “Our country is said to be a growing superpower with the fastest growing economy, but we still do not have good roads because of corruption in our system. This film is a message to people involved in the system…,” The film is produced by Shree Ashtavinayak Cine Vision Ltd and distributed by Dream World Searchlight Pictures. The film is a remake of 1988 Malayalam film Vellanakalude Naadu. The film also will launch southern actress Trisha in Bollywood industry.

Other stars of the film include Makrand Deshpande, Johnny Lever, Rajpal Yadav, Aroona Irani and Milind Gunaji. The film portrays Akshay Kumar in the character of cartoonist R.K. Lakshman’s iconic Common Man cartoon character. Hope that film too clicks well with the audiences as it raises a contemporary topic of corruption that is eating away the society.
