HTC’s Droid Incredible & Evo 4G Inconceivable Shortages Give Way to Droid X

July 14, 2010

It is known to public that Verizon Wireless’s Droid Incredible and Sprint’s Evo 4G which are deemed to be the best Android smartphones, face a sever supply shortage. The current situation with these phones will benefit greatly Motorola’s Droid X which will appear next week. However, some problems may arise for the Droid X too.
Motorola’s Droid X will launch on Verizon on Thursday. Such problems are predicted with this smartphone appearance as shortages expected by Verizon, pre-orders and day one availability are not guaranteed by Best Buy.
It is not surprising that the supply problem of HTC concerning its Droid Incredible and Evo 4G is more troubling. Both of these devices are equipped with AMOLED displays, whereas the Droid X – with LCD. iSuppli has recently reported that only LG and Samsung produce AMOLED screens, and both these companies can’t meet the demand. TPO Display and AU Optronics, 2 Taiwanese producers, are already working on products with AMOLED screens, however, they will be ready only early next year.
HTC’s supply problems were unveiled in the Wall Street Journal, and the company is searching for effective solutions at the moment.
