Another weak start for Sensex

April 13, 2010

A key Indian equities index again started weak Tuesday and was ruling 47 points lower about half an hour into trade.

The sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) opened at 17,831.38 points and was ruling at 17,805.14 points, down 47.86 points or 0.27 percent from its previous close at 17,853 points.

The Sensex had languished in a listless trade Monday and ended moderately in the red.

At the National Stock Exchange (NSE), the broader 50-share S&P CNX Nifty was at 5,321.35 points, against the previous close at 5,399.7 points, a loss of 0.34 percent.

Broader market indices were, however, in the green, with the BSE midcap index up 0.28 percent and the BSE small cap index ruling 0.53 percent higher.
