Omar Abdullah to meet PM

December 30, 2009

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in New Delhi Wednesday.

The minister will discuss the PM’s fifth working group report that favours restoration of autonomy in Jammu and Kashmir, according to official sources.

The report was presented to the chief minister in Jammu Dec 23.

The report, which favours restoration of autonomy in Jammu and Kashmir “to the extent possible”, has evoked a mixed reaction. While the ruling National Conference is stating it is a “vindication” of its political doctrine to end all political problems in the state, other parties have chastised the report as a copy of the NC’s election manifesto.
