CBI to probe YSR helicopter crash site today
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) will on Satruday visit the site of the 2nd September helicopter crash, which killed then Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy and four others, to investigate into the crash at Pavirallagutta in the dense Nallamalla forests.
The CBI multi-disciplinary investigation team (MDIT) would be headed by Deputy Inspector General V V Lakshmia Narayana and comprise officers from the Indian Air Force and the Directorate General of Civil Aviation also, CBI sources said.
The premier investigation agency would look into airworthiness and maintenance of the ill-fated helicopter, besides checking its signalling facility and communication systems, they said.
The CBI would also inquire whether any sabotage was behind the crash and what forced the helicopter to deviate from its set path, besides the response from the Air Traffic Control(ATC) in Chennai, they added.
